When you come to Calle Fuencarral you will find lots of shops, and all types of bars, etc. for the past few decades la Gran Vía has been considered one of the liveliest streets in Madrid. La Puerta del Sol is near the Gran Vía, about 18 to 20 minutes walking from the hotel, just one metro stop away. This famous plaza is not the centre of Madrid, but it is the “centre” of Spain. That is where the kilometer (milemarker) "0" is located. Many of the roads in Spain start there.
